The Seattle Storm dismantled the Las Vegas Aces 92-59 in Game 3 of the 2020 WNBA Finals on Tuesday night at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, to return to the top after a one-year absence. They tie the Houston Comets and Minnesota Lynx for most championships in league history, with four.
In the first quarter, Breanna Stewart had 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field, sat out most of the second and still finished with 26 points. She was named 2020 Finals MVP.
Jewell Loyd added 19 points and Sue Bird notched seven assists for an average of 11 in the Finals.
Stewart is 6-of-6 in scoring at least 20 points in Finals games for her career — the longest streak in WNBA history.
The Aces built an 11-2 lead in the first 2:33 minutes of the contest, but Seattle ripped their hearts out with a 7-0 run in the final two minutes of the frame to lead 23-21 entering the second.
That momentum swing proved to be pivotal. Seattle won the second quarter 20-13 and the third 32-14 before cruising in a laid-back fourth.
A’ja Wilson, the regular season MVP, led the Aces with 18 points in defeat.
