Call it a comeback — or just Tina Charles putting the finishing touches on her seventh 20-point outing of the season. Charles scored 11 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter to lead the New York Liberty to an 84-83 victory over the Seattle Storm on Wednesday afternoon.
After the first half ended with a one-point Liberty lead, the Storm raced out to a 30-19 third-quarter advantage. But four different New York players scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to re-tie the game, Tanisha Wright added a three-pointer and Charles scored the final 11 Liberty points to notch the victory.

Both Jordin Canada and Alysha Clark had opportunities to win the game for the Storm in the final seconds, but their efforts came up short.
The Liberty were led by Charles’ 26 points, Kia Nurse’s 24 points and Wright’s 10 points. Brittany Boyd added a game-high 10 assists, and Reshanda Gray had a team-high 8 rebounds.
Five Storm players scored in double figures, led by Mercedes Russell’s career-high 19 points and Howard’s 15 points. Clark had a game-high 9 rebounds to go with 11 points.

This was the Liberty’s third straight victory, their longest such string of wins since their 10-game streak in 2017. But it was Seattle’s second straight home loss and their first time losing consecutive games in the same homestand since 2016.
