Preview: The Fever’s high-powered offense takes on the winless Wings

The Indiana Fever dropped their last two games but will face a Dallas Wings team they have beaten already this season. The Wings will need to find a way to right their offensive struggles by taking advantage of the Fever’s lack of rebounding prowess.

Kelsey Mitchell leads her team in scoring with 15.3 points this season. She scored 14 points in the first meeting between the Fever and the Wings.

The Indiana Fever go on the road after wrapping up a four-game homestand where they went 2-2. One of those two wins was against the same Dallas Wings they will face tonight. The Fever won the first outing by 15 points.

Indiana’s two losses to Phoenix and Seattle were by a combined nine points. It is safe to say the Fever are much improved from last year.

The Wings are back home after two big losses on the road. Their last game was a 24-point drubbing by the Mystics. The Wings are still figuring out who they are as a team, with nine different players having started at least one game. Glory Johnson is the only player to have started all four games.

In the first meeting between these teams, the Fever had three starters score in double figures, with Tiffany Mitchell coming off the bench to contribute 14 points. The Wings, meanwhile, only had Isabelle Harrison reach double-digit scoring. And the Fever won by a large margin despite shooting 3-of-16 from beyond the arc and 41 percent overall.

Dallas has only played in close games against Minnesota and Atlanta. Together, these three teams are the at the bottom of the league in terms of scoring. So, the Wings will have to play stout defense if they want to keep the Fever within range.

Keys to the matchup: The Fever are the second-best scoring team in the league while the Wings are last in the category. The Wings do have one advantage and that is in their rebounding. They will need to take advantage of their ability to get rebounds off missed shots and convert easy baskets if they want to overcome their offensive deficiencies.
