Effectively immediately, Christin Hedgpeth is the new Chief Operating Officer of the WNBA.

The COO position was last held by Ann Rodriguez, who was promoted from the position of Senior Vice President, WNBA League Operations in March 2018.

According to the WNBA press release, Hedgpeth “will continue to oversee WNBA strategy, business development and marketing functions. She will report directly to WNBA Interim President Mark Tatum.”

Hedgpeth previously worked for Under Armour, Spalding and Russell Athletic in various capacities before being hired by the NBA in 2014 as Vice President of Team Marketing and Business Operations.

But Hedgpeth is not new to basketball. She was a part of Stanford’s 1992 National Championship team and played for the Seattle Reign in the American Basketball League. She holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Duke University.

With the hiring of Hedgpeth, should fans expect an announcement sooner or later about who will fill become the next WNBA president?
