Storylines to follow
The Liberty are heading back to Madison Square Garden for a matinee game where they could use a win. They are already eliminated from the playoffs after losing to the Fever last Saturday, but a win against the Storm would be a boost in an otherwise disappointing year where their ownership situation is uncertain and where the team fell off a cliff despite keeping most of their core players from last season’s third-place team.
The Storm have already clinched a spot but want to keep winning games to clinch a semifinals berth with a top-2 seed. For Seattle, anything but the top overall seed would be a disappointment for the regular season.
Finally, this game will be effectively a reunion of UConn alumnae. The Storm have Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis on their squad while the Liberty have Tina Charles, Bria Hartley, Kiah Stokes and Kia Nurse on theirs. Expect a good number of UConn women’s basketball fans to show up this morning as well.
