There are four WNBA preseason games on the schedule for Saturday. Here are the previews for Saturday’s first two games.
Los Angeles Sparks (0-2) vs. China National Team
When: Saturday May 12 at 5 p.m. EST
Where: Pasadena City College’s Hutto Patterson Gym
The Sparks come into this game with an 0-2 record to play the China National Team. The Sparks waived Gabbi Ortiz and Taya Reimer last Thursday. So far this preseason, China has not given any opponent serious competition. Thus, it is likely the reserves play the bulk of the minutes this afternoon.
Washington Mystics (1-0) vs. Indiana Fever (1-0)
When: Saturday May 12 at 7 p.m. EST
Where: University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center
Streaming: Monumental Sports Network (subscription required)
The Mystics will head to the University of Delaware for their de facto home preseason game against the Fever. Both teams are coming off of wins in their debuts, though the Mystics’ win last weekend against the Lynx appears to be more impressive.
Expect Elena Delle Donne to play more minutes in this one because she is from Delaware. That said, the Mystics are probably more concerned about which reserves will end up making the 2018 team than the actual result of this contest. The Fever, on the other hand, will likely utilize Kelsey Mitchell and Victoria Vivians to get them acclimated to the professional style of play.
