USF coach Jennifer Azzi previews WCC tournament play-in game

San Francisco Dons coach Jennifer Azzi chats with long-time play-by-play announcer George Devine about their approach to the WCC tournament, an injury-plagued season, and the opportunity today's game against the Pepperdine Waves (3 p.m. PST, BYUtv) presents.

The WCC tournament begins today with the eighth-seeded San Francisco Dons (11-18, 4-12 WCC) facing the ninth-seeded Pepperdine Waves (5-22, 2-14 WCC) at 3 p.m. PST. in the play-in game at Orleans arena in Las Vegas.

USF is looking for their first WCC tournament win since the 2006-07 season and working in their favor is that they know they can beat Pepperdine: they just beat them 67-57 on Thursday night at War Memorial Gym, in part due to the play of 6-foot-3 post Bailey Barbour who came within one point of her career-high. That game helped the Dons split the season series with the Waves after falling 71-67 on January 10.

The winner of the play-in game will play fifth-seeded LMU tomorrow.
