The Daytona Beach Invitational will kick off at 11 a.m. ET on Friday, featuring 10 NCAAW teams highlighted by the No. 9 Maryland Terrapins (5-1). There are no ranked teams participating outside of the Terps, but the Ohio Bobcats (4-1) and Belmont Bruins (3-2) have each received exactly one vote in the AP Poll this season.

The Bobcats competed with the No. 18 Syracuse Orange, only losing by 12 points, and defeated a new-look Ohio State team that has a lot of young talent. The Bruins have had an up-and-down season so far with a 35-point win over the Central Florida Knights and a 31-point loss to the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers.

Virginia Tech hasn’t beaten anybody good yet, but they stand at 5-0, while Butler is in the same boat and stands at 4-1. Georgia and Ole Miss both have 3-2 records, while Clemson and Alcorn State (both 2-4) round out the 10 competing teams.

Daytona Beach Invitational Schedule

Day 1 — Friday, Nov. 29

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Butler Bulldogs

When: 11 a.m. ET

Key to the matchup: Georgia is a good defensive team and will have to contain Butler senior guard Kristen Spolyar, who averages 21.8 points per game. Butler is shooting 39.6 percent from distance, with two triples a game coming and a usually about two 3-pointers coming from Genesis Parker.

Belmont Bruins vs. Virginia Tech Hokies

Key to the matchup: Belmont will have to get some offensive boards to give itself second-chance scoring opportunities against a much better offensive team in the Hokies. The Bruins are a good rebounding team and they need to use that to their advantage.

Ohio Bobcats vs. Pittsburgh Panthers

When: 3:30 p.m. ET

Key to the matchup: Both teams average exactly 70.8 points per game and are similar in a lot of ways offensively. Pitt turns the ball over more so that could be the difference.

Clemson Tigers vs. No. 9 Maryland Terrapins

Key to the matchup: If Clemson wants to have any chance of winning it will have to limit its turnovers against Maryland’s suffocating defense. The Terps force 22.8 turnovers per game and that’s exactly how many turnovers Clemson gives up per game.

Ole Miss Rebels vs. Alcorn State Lady Braves

Key to the matchup: Ole Miss is better than Alcorn State pretty much across the board, but especially in the rebounding department. The Braves are going to have to make that a point of emphasis.

Day 2 — Saturday, Nov. 30

Butler vs. Ohio

Key to the matchup: This should be a pretty even matchup. Butler has the edge in 3-point shooting and ability to get to the free-throw line.

Virginia Tech vs. Georgia

Where: Daytona Beach, FL

Key to the matchup: The Hokies are a good 3-point shooting team and Georgia’s defense is allowing 40.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

No. 9 Maryland vs. Belmont

Key to the matchup: Belmont has a better rebounding margin than Maryland, a school that prides itself on rebounding but is a bit off in that department this year. The Bruins will try to exploit that weakness and make up for the fact that the Terps have a far superior offense.

Pittsburgh vs. Ole Miss

Key to the matchup: Ole Miss turns the ball over a lot, but Pitt has some weak spots in defensive categories. The Rebels will have to shoot the ball at a high percentage to win.

Alcorn State vs. Clemson

Key to the matchup: One bright spot for Alcorn State is they average 14 steals per game and force 27.5 turnovers. It can only hope its defense gets the job done because its offense is averaging just 56.5 points per game.
