On October 9, Amy Waugh resigned her duties as head coach at Xavier and Brian Neal was named interim head coach. Later on today, Neal will have the interim tag removed and will be introduced as the next head coach for the Musketeers per multiple sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Xavier Director of Athletics Greg Christopher said this about Neal when he was elevated to interim head coach, “Brian knows our student-athletes and will serve as a strong foundation for the team this year.” “We are fortunate to have Brian and his head coaching experience on staff.”

Prior to coming to Xavier, Neal had an astounding record 171-31 (.847) in seven seasons at Thomas More College. He recorded six consecutive 20-win seasons while guiding the Saints to five consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championships.

Neal is a four-time receiver of the PAC Coach of the Year Award (2006, 08, 10, 11) and was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year twice (2008 and 2011).

A press conference is scheduled for today at 3 pm Eastern
