Diana Taurasi, the all-time leading scorer in WNBA history, is in Tampa for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four. But some may be surprised with who she picks to win it all at this year’s tournament.
Not her UConn Huskies, but the Baylor Lady Bears.
“Baylor has been playing the best basketball throughout the year, and the most consistent,” Taurasi said in an interview with Swish Appeal earlier today. And she thinks the Bears can get it done without doing anything special — just sticking to their “status quo.”
In addition to taking in what promises to be exciting matchups tonight, Taurasi — who endorses BODYARMOR — is in Tampa making some promotional rounds. Her ad, narrated by NBA icon Kobe Bryant — who is part owner of BODYARMOR and a longtime fan of Taurasi’s game — will air nationally during tonight’s Final Four broadcasts.
As to the importance of having the ad air nationally, Taurasi praised BODYARMOR for “doing things a little bit different than the status quo” in terms of gender inclusion in its advertising.
“As a woman, I feel honored,” she said.
