I'm a WNBA fan in Portland, OR who thinks the WNBA here is a no brainer.
Only San Francisco has a higher rate of LGBT people, who I believe to be a target demographic of the WNBA. We don't have that many D-1 college or pro teams here. Our National Women's Soccer League team, the Portland Thorns, averaged 17,653 people in the crowd last season. The next highest team was 6,186. They are doing well in attendance this season as well. Washington Post did a story on it.
I have a notification set up for "WNBA" "Portland" hoping that one day there'll be a rumor of the WNBA coming here. This article came up that the Storm vs Sparks game was the highest rated regular season WNBA game on ESPN2 since 2011. Portland is listed as having the highest ratings, higher than Seattle or Los Angeles.
Anyone else a fan in Portland or want to see a WNBA team in Portland?
