A’ja Wilson wins the John R. Wooden Award

On Friday, South Carolina forward A’ja Wilson won the John R Wooden Award in Los Angeles. Connecticut Sun post Chiney Ogwumike gave her the award in a ceremony that you can watch below:

Wilson beat out Louisville guard Asia Durr, Oregon guard Sabrina Ionescu, and UConn forwards Gabby Williams and Katie Lou Samuelson who were finalists.

Friday was a big day for Wilson, who also projects to be the top overall pick in next week’s WNBA Draft. Here were some highlights, where she played a cameo on a General Hospital-esque video:

Took pictures with TNT analyst and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

And she even did a little coaching.

With the college season now officially behind us, let’s see where Wilson gets drafted next week.
