The Chicago Sky drafted Diamond DeShields third in the 2018 WNBA Draft. DeShields comes from Cukurova Basketbol Mersin of the KBSL in Turkey. At Cukurova, she is averaging 16.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Cukurova is currently fifth place in the KBSL with a 14-10 record. They should be in line for a EuroCup women spot this fall given how many teams from the KBSL make it each year. You can watch some of her KBSL highlights from Beckyanil’s YouTube channel above.
Before going pro last year, DeShields played at North Carolina (2013-14) and Tennessee (2015-17). In her redshirt junior season for the Lady Vols, DeShields averaged 17.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. DeShields has a very versatile game and can play either guard position in addition to the small forward position.
