After Friday night’s semifinal games gave us two overtime thrillers, the national championship game Sunday night did not disappoint. In a wild, back-and-forth affair, Notre Dame took down Mississippi State, 61-58, to claim the program’s second national title.
Two days after hitting a buzzer-beater to topple a heavily-favored UConn team, Arike Ogunbowale upped the ante with an incredible effort to get some space and get this shot off and into the history books.

Ogunbowale finished with 18 points while Jessica Sheperd led the way for the Fighting Irish with 19 points and six rebounds. Notre Dame only scored three points in the second quarter, taking a 13-point deficit into the halftime break, but stormed back in the third quarter to get close. After a tug-of-war in the fourth quarter, the most exciting Final Four in recent memory ended in the most exciting way possible.
