\\Yesterday, Ole Miss had its season end in the SEC Tournament after falling to Missouri. Today the university has announced to mutually part ways with head coach Matt Insell.

Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Ross Bjor stated the following on the news:

“Coach Insell inherited a very difficult situation in 2013, and we appreciate his focus and hard work over the last five years,” Bjork said. “In our final analysis, Coach Insell and I agreed that the program needs new leadership. Coach Insell will be a coach for a long time in the future, and we wish him the best as he moves forward.

“Ole Miss Women’s Basketball has a deep history of success, and we will search the nation for the best coach. We have a great foundation in place, and I know we can compete at the highest level.”

In his tenure, Insell compiled an overall record of 70-87 in five seasons and 18-62 in SEC play. The Lady Rebels did appear in the WNIT twice, once in 2015 and 2017 — which they advanced to the third round (the furthest in program history).
