Earlier today, Cayla George was traded from Phoenix to Connecticut, now the Mercury have announced another trade. Phoenix has agreed to sign and trade Kelsey Bone to Las Vegas while receiving a 2019 second-round pick and 2018 third-round selection (26th overall). Yesterday Las Vegas picked up the 2019 draft selection from the Indiana Fever in exchange for Kayla Alexander.

Phoenix’s General Manager Jim Pitman stated the following on the news in a press release:

“Kelsey Bone has been consistent in saying that she wanted to be a starter in the WNBA, and obviously that was not going to happen in Phoenix. Today we executed a sign-and-trade deal with Las Vegas that brought back the best assets possible, including a future second-round pick that we expect to have great value.”

During the upcoming 2018 WNBA draft, the Mercury will now have four picks: 8th overall (first round), 20th and 21st overall (second round), and 26th overall (third round).
