LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Sparks have added another weapon to their already dangerous lineup, agreeing to terms Wednesday morning with free agent Cappie Pondexter.
Pondexter, who has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Sky, is one of the most decorated veterans in league history. In 2015, Pondexter was named to the WNBA Top 20@20, a list of the top 20 players in WNBA history for their 20th anniversary. She currently ranks fourth all-time in scoring and sixth all-time in assists, on top of being a seven-time All-Star, three-time All-WNBA First Team selection and WNBA Finals MVP.
Pondexter averaged 9.6 points per game and 4.3 assists in her last season with the Sky (2017). She owns career averages of 17.1 PPG and 3.9 APG in her 12 seasons in the league.
With an already stacked lineup of Candace Parker, Nneka Ogwumike and Odyssey Sims, the Sparks have added some considerable bench speed and a veteran who brings championship pedigree. Pondexter is a two-time champion (2007, 2009 with the Phoenix Mercury) and 2008 Olympic gold medalist.
