June Daugherty, the head coach at Washington State, has announced she is taking an indefinite medical leave of absence as of Wednesday. The Cougars will be coached by her head assistant (and husband) Mike, until she returns.
Daugherty stated the following in a press release:
“The medical procedure I had a few weeks ago was successful, but I need some additional time to rest and heal. I have great confidence that my staff will continue to coach the Cougs to their best play yet, I believe in this team and I am excited to see them continue to have success in Pac-12 Conference play.”
This is not the first time Mike will coach Washington State as June had to miss three games earlier this season.
The Cougars will hit the court again on Friday as they host USC in Pac-12 play.
