Every team has a player who can score in bunches, yet there always needs to be someone who can counter the opposition. Alana Beard definitely was a star for Los Angeles to lock up their opponents best guard all season long. Due to her consistent tough defense, she was named to the WNBA’s All-Defensive team after being named the Defensive Player of the Year. With the selection, this is Beard’s fourth time making the WNBA’s All-Defensive First Team.

Beard was joined by her teammate Nneka Ogwumike, Sylvia Fowles of Minnesota, Connecticut’s Jasmine Thomas, and Tina Charles of New York.

Brittney Griner (Phoenix), Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut) Rebekkah Brunson and Maya Moore (Minnesota) and Briann January (Indiana) all were named to the WNBA’s All-Defensive Second Team.
