The Seattle Storm have fired head coach Jenny Boucek after three seasons, the team just announced.

“I believe new leadership is needed at this time to give our team the best chance at short and long term success,” said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. “I am grateful for the passion and commitment Jenny has demonstrated throughout her time with the Seattle Storm. She has been an important part of our organization and we wish her well in the next steps of her career.”

Effective immediately, Gary Kloppenburg will take over the Storm as the interim head coach. Kloppenburg has 14 years of experience in coaching in the WNBA. This is his second go around with Seattle after serving as an assistant under Lin Dunn in 2000-2002.

He also has spent time as an assistant in Indiana (2008-2011, 2015-2016), Phoenix (2003), Los Angeles (2014) and was a head coach for Tulsa in 2012 and 2013. During his time away from the WNBA, Kloppenburg was on staff with the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA.

In her three seasons with the Storm, Boucek accumulated an overall record of 36-58. Overall in the league, she has a career record of 76-99.
