WNBA Relocation: Sky moving to new arena in Chicago

The Chicago Sky will now be in the city the team is named after.

For eight years, the Chicago Sky has played its games in Rosemont at the Allstate Arena. By the time the 2018 season comes around, the Sky will be relocated to the city of Chicago to play its games at Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square.

“On behalf of basketball fans across the city, we want to welcome the Chicago Sky o their new home right here in Chicago,” said Mayor Emanuel.

The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority announced today the approval of the arena relocation. The agreement is for five years including all home games for the Sky as well as any promotional events Chicago wants to hold. The Sky will receive all revenue from ticket sales, sponsorship sales, as well as all Sky or WNBA branded merchandise

With the Sky playing at Wintrust, the arena will host professional games. The Sky will be anchored tenant with DePaul University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams next season, which will host over 20 games at the arena.
