Elena Delle Donne was named a starter for the WNBA All-Star game this weekend and yesterday Brittney Griner was announced as a reserve. However, both players recently went down with injuries which have put them on the sidelines.

The league announced today, Rebekkah Brunson (Minnesota) and Sugar Rodgers (New York) will replace the two in the All-Star game. This will be Brunson’s fourth time being named an All-Star. As for Rodgers, she joins the list of players making their debut in an All-star game. Rodgers is also one of the contestants for the halftime Three-Point Shooting Competition.

The league also announced today the East will be coached by Curt Miller and his Connecticut staff. Bill Laimbeer and his staff were going to coach, however, Laimbeer has a family matter to attend.

Even though Rodgers is replacing Delle Donne, who was voted a starter, does not guarantee she will start the game. Miller will make the final decision on who will replace Delle Donne in the starting lineup.
