The Clemson women's basketball program is destined to see at least four more seasons of greatness under the guidance of head coach Audra Smith. The Board of Trustees Compensation Committee approved the extension of her contract through the 2020-21 season at its July meetings.
“Our women’s basketball team improved both on and off the court last season, and Coach Smith has her program positioned for continued success in the near future,” Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said in a press release from the Clemson Tigers.
The Tigers are coming off of a positive season (2016-17) of growth and change where they finished with a final record of 15-16, totaling 11 more overall wins than the previous season.
Smith returns all five starters and all 13 letter winners from the 2016-17 season and also added three new freshmen to the roster this fall. Promising players to watch include, leading scorer senior Nelly Perry (12.7 ppg) and leading rebounder junior Aliyah Collier (7.9 rpg).
