The Verizon WNBA All-Star game is this Saturday in Seattle. The league announced in June this year that the All-Star game would be bringing back the Three-Point Shooting contest during halftime of the game. Today those named have been released. The following five players will partake in the competition:
Sue Bird, Seattle Storm
Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx
Allie Quigley, Chicago Sky
Sugar Rodgers, New York Liberty
Jasmine Thomas, Connecticut Sun
For the first-time ever, the winner of the competition will win $10,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
There will be two rounds for the shooters with five spots around the arc, which four of the racks will have four basketballs worth one point, plus a “money ball” accounting for two points. One rack on the court — wherever the player wants it — will consist of five basketballs which will be all “money balls.” The top three shooters will advance to the final championship round.
The All-Star game will air on ABC this Saturday at 3:30 pm ET.
