The NBA Draft was underway in Brooklyn last night, and while there was plenty of news, there was also a piece of history.
As the Philadelphia 76ers selected Markelle Fultz out of the University of Washington, it marked the first time that both the NBA and WNBA No. 1 overall picks came from the same school in the same year.
Fellow Husky Kelsey Plum was, of course, selected No. 1 overall by the San Antonio Stars back in April. Plum is currently averaging 3.7 points per game in San Antonio.
Both Plum and Fultz have shown plenty of support for one another.
When Plum was drafted, Fultz made sure to tweet out support for the all-time leading NCAA scorer.
So proud of you, you deserve it and I can't wait to see you kill in the WNBA @Kelseyplum10 #F2G

Plum made sure to return the favor last night, showing off “Husky Pride:”

Plum averaged 31.7 points per game in her last collegiate season, while Fultz averaged 23.2 points per game for the men’s team.
