Today a lot of cuts were made around the league.

The WNBA tips off this weekend, which means teams have been busy finalizing their rosters. Today, in particular, has been full of cuts. Already Indiana has waived two players and Dallas released a few veterans.

After Shoni Schimmel announced she would be taking the year off from playing with New York, the team announced today they would be suspending her for the full season and expect her to return next year.

Connecticut also made a cut today: forward Kayla Pedersen. Last season Pedersen did not play for the Sun but remained on the roster. This year she did not appear at training camp as she is still abroad playing for Lucca in Italy. Pedersen has been in the league since 2011 spending time with the then Tulsa Shock (2011-2013) and the Sun (2013-2015).

The defending champions Los Angeles have waived free agent foreigner, Ah-Ra Go.

Another team that made a couple cuts today is Phoenix who waived Katherine Plouffe and Danielle McCray. Plouffe signed this year with the Mercury as a rookie. McCray played three seasons in the WNBA all at Connecticut in 2011, 2012, and 2014. On her career, she has game averages of 13.9 minutes, 4.6 points, 1.1 assists and 2.0 rebounds.

Each team in the league must have their final roster by May 12 — only four days away.
