Youth vs. maturity, hunger vs. experience, Connecticut Sun vs. Minnesota Lynx. Two divergent teams took to the court Tuesday night to prove that their respective attributes would prevail.

Ultimately, the Lynx took home the win with a final score of 80-78, proving that their longstanding know-how and well-developed synergy would reign triumphant.

Coming into the night 3-0, the Lynx are no strangers to topping the charts of the Western Conference. They have already established a 21-game winning streak this month alone. And while the Sun show youthful fire in their aggressive, quick playing style, the Lynx never let their guards down.

Without an entrenched superstar player, Connecticut worked together to stay up by two points at the ends of both the first and second quarters. Both teams were slow to start, neither taking a notable lead in the first half.

The Sun came into the night at 0-2, but swiped two wins from the Lynx of the three games they contested each other last year. In the first half of tonight’s game, Connecticut scored 13 points off 13 turnovers.

Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles got Minnesota fired up early in the third quarter. A combined total of 31 points were put up between the two teammates to round out the third. The Lynx attained a breakaway lead by the end of the third quarter, and went into the fourth up 8 at 62-54.

Connecticut showed their tenacity, never giving up and making it a point to prove that they are here to stay. They played vigorously, powering through the fourth quarter despite a 9-point lead by Minnesota with two minutes to go. In the last seconds of the game, the Sun failed their attempts to make a shot and close a 2-point gap, ultimately giving the win to the Lynx.
