In order to get down to the required 12 players for the season opener on Sunday, the Dallas Wings let go of nine-year veteran guard Erin Phillips.

Phillips, a two-time WNBA champion, played one season in Dallas after being acquired in March 2016 for Riquna Williams. In her lone season with the Wings, Phillips averaged 4.7 points, 1.2 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 32 games, starting 12 of those games.

The Wings, who already have five other guards on their roster, will most likely place Skylar Diggins-Smith and either rookies Allisha Gray or Kaela Davis as their starting guards with the team waiving both Phillips and Tiffany Bias this preseason.

Dallas tips off their season opener against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, May 14 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix.
