If the Ohio State Buckeyes are going to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament next year, they’ll have to do it without two highly touted freshmen from last season.
Kiara Lewis and Tori McCoy have told the school that they plan on leaving the Ohio State women ‘s basketball program and will seek transfers.
Lewis, a five-star recruit and the 2015-16 Illinois Gatorade High School Player of the Year, averaged 6.7 points and 1.8 assists per game in her lone season with the Buckeyes. Lewis also started the last 15 games of the season.
McCoy, who was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team, blocked a team-high 59 shots while averaging 8.1 points and 5.9 rebounds a game. McCoy, who also averaged 1.7 blocks a game, was a Naismith Player of the Year finalist as a senior in high school and was ranked in the top-10 class of 2016 by every media outlet.
