This past season, Maryland was slightly knocked down when it came to rankings – especially in the seeding when it came time for the NCAA Tournament – because their strength of schedule was not considered very strong.
As the Terrapins begin to set its schedule for next year they put an extremely strong program to play against: South Carolina, the National Champions.
Per Swish Appeal sources, Maryland and the Gamecocks are set to have a two-year home-and-home series with the first game being at the XFINITY Center on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, in Maryland. In November of 2018, South Carolina will host the Terrapins at Colonial Life Arena.
“This is a great series for our team and for our program,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “We want to play the best and we want to give our fans the opportunity to watch the best basketball in the country. I know Terp Nation will be in full force.”
The last time these two programs met was in 1997 when Maryland won the game 74-60. It is without a doubt the game will be extremely competitive and one to look out for next year.
Official announcement should come later today.
