Monmouth hastily fires head coach Palmateer midseason

This season has been a rocky start for Monmouth who is just 2-7 thus far on the year. Recently, the university elected to release head coach Jenny Palmateer who has been replaced by head assistant coach, Jody Craig.

The university did not disclose the specific reasoning in releasing Palmateer but Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil stated the following on the news:

"I want to thank Coach Palmateer for her guidance over the past six-plus seasons of our women's basketball program. She guided the team into a new era when we joined the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the entire University community is appreciative of her efforts."

Craig will coach her first game as the Hawks’ head coach on Tuesday, Dec. 12 when Virginia Tech comes into town.
