No. 3 Louisville obliterates another opponent, moves to 12-0

Louisville, KY — The No. 3 Louisville Cardinals completed its four game home stretch against Tennessee teams with a 95 - 56 victory over Tennessee State.

The Cardinals held the Tigers to 31% shooting from the field and forced 18 turnovers that Louisville converted into 27 points.

Louisville continued its trend of shooting above 50% from the field, going 38-of-70 against Tennessee State. The Cardinals knocked down eight three-pointers, three of which belonged to Asia Durr.

The Cardinals started out strong, jumping out to a quick 12-0 lead behind Sam Fuehring's six points. Taylor Roberts tried to bring the Tigers within striking distance as she added four quick points, however, the Cardinals ran ahead behind an 8-0 lead.

Despite the Cardinals inability to score from the field in the final three minutes of the first period, Louisville outscored Tennessee State, 28 - 12. Fuehring led the Cardinals with 8 points and four rebounds.

Tennessee State was able to gain some momentum in the second period, grabbing seven points early as Tia Wooten knocked down two buckets and Kaliya Griffin fired off a triple. Taylor Williams also added two to bring the Tigers within 15, but a three-pointer from Kylee Shook and a layup from Jazmine Jones put the Cardinals up, 41 - 21.

Louisville closed the first half behind a 7-0 run to take a 57 - 27 lead.

The Cardinals shot 63.6% from the field in the first half, connecting on 21 field goals. Bianca Dunham led Louisville with 11 points and five rebounds, while Fuehring added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Out of the half, the Cardinals picked up where they left off, jumping out on a 7 - 2 run. Midway through the third period, Louisville held Tennessee State scoreless for more than 2 minutes. However, the Cardinals were unable to capitalize going 0-of-4 until Fuehring was able to connect on a jump shot.

At the end of third, Louisville held a 79 - 44 advantage.

The Cardinals remained hot in the final period, outscoring the Tigers 16 - 12. Shook led Louisville with six of its 16 points, while Jessica Laemmle and Sydney Zambrotta each added three points.

The Tigers were no match for the Cardinals. Tennessee State fell to 1 - 6 on the season.

Louisville had seven players notch double-figures: Sam Fuehring racked up 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in just 18 minutes played. Jazmine Jones added 12 points of her own behind 6-of-8 shooting. Jones also notched five rebounds and five assists.

Asia Durr also tallied 12 points and four rebounds. Myisha Hines-Allen picked up 11 points and seven rebounds, while both Kylee Shook and Bianca Dunham added 11 points and six rebounds a piece. Rounding out Louisville's top scorers was Dana Evans who finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

For the Tigers, two player grabbed double-digits: Taylor Williams led all scorers with 17 points and five rebounds, while Tia Wooten added 12 points and five rebounds.
