Isiah Thomas, team president for the New York Liberty, announced today Swin Cash has been named Director of Franchise Development.

“I’m truly excited to join the New York Liberty front office as Director of Franchise Development,” said Cash in a press release. “Over my 15-year career in the WNBA, I have been able to not only play at the highest level on the court, but also serve the players as the VP of the WNBPA union. I’m thankful to the Liberty organization and President Isiah Thomas for the opportunity to continue in a leadership role with the team and city I finished my career in. I’m just as committed in our front office as I was as a player to helping our team bring a championship to New York.”

Cash will have the responsibility of helping with business and basketball operations, aiding the growth of the Liberty franchise, as well as interaction with the players and coaching staff.

She is the second player in WNBA history to turn from a player into a front office position immediately after playing; the other player to do so is Penny Toler who is the General Manager for the LA Sparks. At the same time, Cash is the first one to also be assisting in business development.
