During halftime of the Minnesota and Phoenix game, the order for this year’s lottery picks in the 2017 WNBA Draft were announced. And the team that’s usually been snake bitten by this process, finally had “Lady Luck” on their side. The San Antonio Stars will be picking first, followed by the Washington Mystics, the Dallas Wings and the Los Angeles Sparks (via trade with Connecticut).
After two rough years (2015, 2016) of sub-par seasons, the Stars were eligible once again for the lottery, as well as the Connecticut Sun, the Wings and the Mystics. Winning the first pick is a bright spot leading up to the 2017 season, as they welcome back veterans Kayla McBride and Danielle Robinson who missed all or majority of the season due to injury.
