Los Angeles finished as the second best team in the league, and often was considered the top team in the league. While much of the Sparks’ success can be attributed to newly named MVP, Nneka Ogwumike and the rest of the starters. But, Jantel Lavender was a vital component, and that was shown, as she was named this season’s Sixth Woman of the Year — Lavender has consistently provided Los Angeles a huge boost off of the bench.
Lavender literally was the “spark” that Los Angeles needed in many of their games.
Lavender took on a new role coming off the bench this season after starting every game last year. Her high-low connection with Candace Parker or Ogwumike, as well as running the floor for easy buckets in transition for Los Angeles, generated energy at crucial times in close games for the Sparks. If she wasn’t hitting a critical shot for her team, Lavender could be found assisting her teammates in a much-needed basket.
More details to come.
