After a magnificent year, the league announced today that the Most Valuable Player Award goes to Nneka Ogwumike. The forward has played exceptional basketball for the Los Angeles Sparks this past season — and now has her first MVP award, joining Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie as the only other Sparks players to win the award.

This season has been a career best for Ogwumike who shot nearly 70% from the field the entire season, as she led Los Angeles to being one of the top teams in the league.

More details to come.
