Two months ago to the date, legendary coach Pat Summitt passed away. While there are many ways to honor her, the football team at Tennessee is going to honor her all season and have a “piece” of Summitt with them on the field all year.
USA Today announced the football team at the university will be wearing a decal on their helmets in honor of Coach Summitt.
“We’re excited about wearing a commemorative sticker on the back of our helmet to honor the late Pat Summitt,” fourth-year coach Butch Jones said. “We know everything she stands for.
“I think it’s very fitting that Tennessee football and Team 120 recognize her and everything she means to the University of Tennessee and state of Tennessee.”
As Jones was coming to Tennessee, Summitt was stepping away, however as reported by USA Today, he was “drawn to her” after hearing her name for years and the impact she made many people.
