Today is a magnificent day for Stetson University, as they received a huge surprise.

One of the top players in the class of 2017, Adriana Ellis -- a four-star recruit, who had already committed to the Hatters --, decided to do something profound. She will be forgoing her senior year at Winter Springs High School to begin her collegiate career.

There was a lot of buzz this spring, as many Division I coaches wondered why Ellis was not on the AAU circuit, now they have their answer.

Ellis is a versatile guard, who will bring the Hatters size on the perimeter with her 5'9" frame. She can play either the point guard position, or the wing. Regardless of what position she is playing, Ellis will be bringing another dynamic scoring option for Stetson -- especially with her unique versatility.

She also brings great length on the defensive end, which adds to the balance of her overall game on both sides of the ball. In the basketball community, she has been pegged as a player with "patience and skill," adding to the attraction Ellis accumulated during her recruiting process.

Stetson beat out the likes of South Florida, Kansas and others for the very talented Ellis.
