Razorback Communications

Sources tell Swish Appeal, the next head coach at the University of the Incarnate Word will be Christy Smith. The vacancy for the Cardinals came open in March when head coach Kate Henderson resigned.

Smith comes to Incarnate Word after being the top assistant at Arkansas for the past two seasons. In her first year with the Razorbacks, she helped them to an 18-win season, including making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament - the program's second appearance in the past 11 years.

Smith also coached at Purdue University from 2011-2014, helping the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament each year, and before her time with the Boilermakers, she was at Valparaiso from 2008-2011. Smith played at Arkansas and is one of the most recognizable Razorbacks in women's basketball history graduating in 1998.
