Announced by the team today, the Connecticut Sun have traded to get the fourth overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft. For them to get this pick, they traded Elizabeth Williams to the Atlanta Dream.
With this trade, the Sun now have two of the top four picks in the draft, already holding onto position number three in the draft. Coach Curt Miller, shared with the media, how it is tough to trade a talent like Williams, but now having back-to-back picks in the draft, the holes missing throughout his team have a better opportunity of being addressed and fixed.
"We are excited about the trade with Atlanta allowing us to have two of the top four picks in the deep 2016 WNBA Draft," said Sun coach Curt Miller, who now has the Nos. 3 and 4 picks. "It is always hard trading a talented player and great person like Elizabeth Williams, but we believe the draft provides us with a tremendous opportunity to address specific needs."
Williams is a former Duke Blue Devil, who was drafted fourth overall in the 2015 WNBA Draft. She played in 21 games last season, before she was forced to the bench with a knee contusion.
