Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd has been named WNBA Rookie of the Year, according to multiple reports.
The 5-foot-10 Loyd was the top overall pick in the 2014 draft after deciding to enter early after her junior year at Notre Dame. She got off to a slow start early on, but picked up her play throughout the course of the season, becoming the Storm's go-to player for the majority of the year.
Loyd averaged 10.7 points per game, which was top amongst rookies, and 3.5 rebounds, all the while shooting a blistering 90% from the free throw line. The official announcement of her winning the award should be sometime today.
