Yesterday, New York Liberty team captain and VP of the WNBA Players Union, Swin Cash, appeared on CBS Sports Network's "We Need to Talk." She elaborated on her thoughts about Isiah Thomas being named President and part-owner of the Liberty. Here is some of what she had to say:
One thing I can truly say, not only talking for the players of the New York Liberty, but also for the players across the (WNBA), there’s no one that’s going to sit here and say, ‘We’re fine with sexual harassment. We’re fine with domestic violence.’ Those are hot topics that are happening right now in our country. At the same time, you have to be informed. We were informed about what happened in the past. My job now as the VP (of the Players Union) and as the leader of the Liberty is, ‘How do we deal with the environment that we’re in right now? How do we move forward? What are the working conditions going to be? How is Isiah going to help our team?’… For me it was about evaluating all of the information and now figuring out how I can lead in the right way.
Cash is the first person from the Liberty team to speak regarding Thomas' hire. Thomas is set to meet with the WNBA Board of Governors, regarding him being approved as part owner.
