Isiah Thomas has filed paperwork for partial ownership of the New York Liberty, according to multiple reports. Thomas, who was recently hired by James Dolan to also be president of the Liberty, has come under fire because of his sexual harassment case in 2007. Here is an excerpt from the AP, which first reported the news:
Isiah Thomas has filed paperwork for partial ownership of the WNBA's New York Liberty, two people familiar with the situation said Wednesday.
Thomas needs approval from the league's board of governors for his ownership application to go through. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement has been made.
Thomas was named president of the Liberty last week, a move that caught the WNBA off-guard. He also was given an ownership stake, but the paperwork for it was just sent to the league in the past few days.
WNBA President Laurel J. Richie told The Associated Press last week that she was gathering information about Thomas, who was once the subject of a sexual harassment suit when he worked for the New York Knicks.
Many have been seriously critical of Thomas' appointment, most recently Connecticut Sun head coach Anne Donovan, who spoke with the Hartford Courant about Thomas' hire.
And she didn't pull any punches: "It's tough to swallow that he's going to be a part of the women's team. I am so glad I'm not there [coaching]. I've thought about that every day [since the decision]."
NFL Network's Rich Eisen also chimed in, deciding to take a sarcastic jab at the NBA Hall of Famer.
Isiah Thomas must have pictures of every single employer on Earth.

Talk about salvo right across the brow of Thomas.
