On November 12, Kent State's Danielle O'Banion got some very troubling news. The third-year head coach learned that she had Stage 2 lymphoma disease. When one usually gets this type of diagnosis, the voyage that they have to embark on can be a scary and lonely one, to say the least.
But, anyone who knows the Golden Flashes' leader understood that O'Banion was going to one thing: fight. This is what she had to say once she got her early diagnosis: "I am extremely grateful for my early diagnosis and eager to attack treatment in the months ahead."
And after six months of giving cancer an "attacking full-court press", O'Banion announced on twitter, that she is now in remission.
Remission confirmed this morning. We serve a mighty God. So incredibly grateful! #TGBTG pic.twitter.com/VioK4nMtzF
