Connecticut Sun guard Katie Douglas has announced her retirement, according to multiple reports.

Here is a part of a report from the Indianapolis Star:

Katie Douglas, who turns 36 Thursday, announced her retirement Friday after a 14-year WNBA career. The Indianapolis native had intended to play for the Connecticut Sun this summer but cited lingering back problems for her decision.

Douglas had back surgery in November 2013 and did not re-sign with the Indiana Fever for the 2014 season. Instead, she signed a free-agent contract with the Sun and played all but the final two games before developing back pain again. After consulting with her surgeon, she decided this was it.

"When he said quality of life could be at jeopardy," Douglas said, "I just felt that this is the right time for me."

Last year she averaged 13.2 points a game and scored 15 for the winning East team in the All-Star Game. Douglas said she thought she had "tweaked" her back because the injury "came out of nowhere."

Douglas played 14 years in the WNBA.
