Every off-season, there are numerous players looking for different opportunities at other universities. And yesterday, Marist announced that four players will transfer from their program: Madeline Bias, Payton Birchmeier, Brittni Lai and Katharine Fogarty. Here's part of the release from the Red Foxes:
"I am disappointed that Payton, Maddie, Kat and Brittni have decided to leave our women’s basketball program," head coach Brian Giorgis said. "They are all great students who worked very hard to represent Marist well on and off the court. I want to wish them well as they begin a new chapter."
"I know that we have a lot of work to do trying to fill this void and are recruiting very hard to identify quality student-athletes. I am excited about the incoming freshmen we’ve signed, and our current players are excited to compete for our 11th MAAC championship. We have a great academic profile, a supportive fan base and a winning tradition that I know will be attractive to many prospects."
The biggest loss seems to be 6-foot-1 forward/guard Madeline Blais. Blais was named first-team All-MAAC, and she was the team's second-leading scorer at 16.2 points.
