Memphis associate head coach David Midlick will be the next coach at Austin Peay, according to sources. Midlick will replace former Governors head coach Carrie Daniels, who was let go March 9.
Midlick, who is originally from Tennessee, has not only great ties to the state, but also a connection to Austin Peay. He was an assistant coach on the men's side from 2003-06. After that, Midlick coached at Tennessee State for four seasons, before moving on to the aforementioned Tigers.
Other finalists for the job were LSU assistant Tasha Butts, and former alumni, Indiana assistant Rhet Wierzba and Mercer assistant Tiffany Swoffard.
A press conference to introduce Midlick is schedule for 10 a.m. CST.
