After last year's struggling season of 6-25 for Loyola (Chicago), this off-season was going to be a critical one, as they are looking to shows signs of moving in the right direction. But the start of off-season workouts, has gotten off to a rough start for the Ramblers, with five players deciding to transfer.
Here's a quote from head coach Sheryl Swoopes regarding the mass exodus:
"As I completed my end of year meetings, there was a mix of reasons as to why these players are not returning," Swoopes continued. "We will ensure they have the support they need to have a strong finish in the classroom and onto their next step. I wish each one of them success in the future.
"My focus is 100% on our talented group of returners that are committed to continuing to build a strong, winning culture here at Loyola, and recruiting the right talent to join them."
The five players that have the program are third-leading scorer Simone Law, who has since transferred to Illinois; redshirt freshman Tiana Karopulos (2.4 points); sophomore Bailey Farley (2.5 points); and freshmen Destiny Washington (4.8 points) and Cortney Williams (1.4 points).
