Temeka Johnson signs with the Los Angeles Sparks

There was no way that Johnson would have been on the open market for that long.

On Monday, the Los Angeles Sparks announced that they signed Temeka Johnson to a contract. She was waived by the Seattle Storm last week, where she spent the last two seasons. Coincidentally -- or maybe it isn't -- former Seattle Storm GM and Head Coach Brian Agler is now leading the Sparks, which should help her get acclimated more quickly.

This is actually not Johnson's first time in L.A., where she played from 2006-2008. Johnson also spent time with the Tulsa Shock in 2012; the Phoenix Mercury from 2009-2011 where she won one WNBA title; and the Washington Mystics in 2005 when she was the Rookie of the Year.

With a number of new point guards in L.A. like Erin Phillips and now Johnson, it appears that the Sparks want to increase their depth at that position. In addition, this move further addresses their lack of three point shooting options which really hurt them last season. Johnson has made 35.9% of her three point shots during the course of her career.

With the backcourt rotation solidifying in L.A., it should be interesting to see how they will bounce back in 2015 after a down season last year.
