Breaking News: North Florida fires Mary Tappmeyer

North Florida has fired Mary Tappmeyer as head coach. Tappmeyer was in her 23rd season at the helm, and she's the only coach in their program's history.

The only coach in North Florida's history, Mary Tappmeyer, has been let go according to multiple sources. Tappmeyer, who was in her 23rd year with the program, guided the Ospreys through three transitions - from NAIA to Division II and then Division I in 2005.

Tappmeyer struggled, as of late, to rekindle the winning formula that she had cultivated many years ago. North Florida's last winning season was in 2003-04, when they were 24-6 and members of Division II's Peach Belt Conference.

The past couple of years, the Ospreys seemed to have regressed, as they finished with back-to-back last place finishes in the Atlantic Sun. In 2013-14, they were a putrid 6-22 and 2-15 overall in the A-Sun. And this past season, North Florida, finished with an overall record of 11-19 and finished in last place in the Atlantic Sun.

This was North Florida's ninth losing season in a row.

More details to come later.
